The Phonak Roger On v2 is a brand new addition to the hugely successful Roger portfolio. First launched by Phonak in 2013, Roger products have helped hearing aid users around the globe to further improve their hearing.

The V2 has an extra Headset Mode

This means while at a laptop on a team’s call as an example it bypasses the computers microphone and relays the whole conversation through Roger. This means that background noise is reduced both ends and speech is enhanced. The Roger still adapts to the level of background noise. If one caller is sat in quiet and one in a busy café the sound experience is matched.

  • Presenter Mode
  • Pointing Mode
  • Table mode

Anyone wearing a hearing aid and still having difficulty hearing in certain listening situations may be a candidate for a Roger system.

The Roger On is a compact, easy-to-use transmitter with 4 microphones which can be configured in a number of ways. It can automatically or manually switch between different microphone pick up patterns depending on whether it's placed on a table, clipped on clothing or held in your hand.

Here’s a few examples of how it can be used:

In group conversations: in small meetings or at family dinners, place the Roger On microphone on the table to pick up the voices from everyone.

In social gatherings: when music is playing and people are talking and laughing, hold it in your hand to activate ‘Pointing Mode 2.0,’ making it possible to zoom in on the person talking.

From a distance: In a larger auditorium, the speaker often stands at a distance. Ask the presenter to wear the Roger On, and their speech will be transmitted directly to your hearing aids.

There is an intuitive LED screen on the Roger On to show what is happening on the Roger On when it’s turned on.

The Roger On microphone must be used in conjunction with a Roger receiver. A receiver is not included with the Roger On as there are a number of options to use, and it depends on which hearing aid model is worn. Hearing aid users can use one of the following options:

  • Use Roger Neckloop as the receiver: the Roger Neckloop receives the signal from the Roger On and transmits to the hearing aids which need to be in the Telecoil or Loop setting. There is also an option to use a set of headphones with the Roger Neckloop instead of a hearing aid.
  • Use a Roger X receiver: the Roger X receiver is either added to the bottom of the hearing aid (via a direct audio shoe specific to the hearing aid); or the Roger X receiver can be plugged in certain accessories – e.g. Roger Compilot II; ReSound MultiMic; Oticon EduMic
  • Use an integrated Phonak receiver: this can be added to certain Phonak branded hearing aids; but will only work with that specific model of Phonak aid.

If you have a Phonak Marvel or Phonak Paradise hearing aid we recommend the Roger On iN – as this includes two receivers within the device.

Phonak have a useful configurator tool to help work out compatibility with your hearing aids but do contact us if you are unsure as to what may work for you.

The Roger On package includes a docking station - used to both recharge the device and transmit audio from a TV or other audio source (such as your mobile, tablet or HiFi) to the Roger On (and into your hearing aids). Alternatively, you can use the short micro-USB audio cable to connect your multimedia device directly to your Roger On.

The Roger On can also be connected to the new myRogerMic App. This is a free App, downloadable to either Apple or Android devices. (Check your device's compatibility here) You can then control your Roger On from your smartphone. It allows you to customize your microphone settings according to environment and personal preferences. Steer the direction of the beam(s) towards the speaker(s) you want to listen to. Change microphone mode; Mute / unmute and check current device status such as battery level.

2 year manufacturer warranty.

What do I need to know about returning a phone or assistive listening device?

These products may be unwrapped for testing but if they prove to be unsuitable then a 100% refund will be issued only if the product is returned in a brand new, saleable condition, with all packaging and contents intact.

N.B. We would not consider an item to be re-saleable if:

  • The box or contents are dirty or damaged.
  • Personal data or phone numbers have been added.
  • The original contents are damaged or missing.

Any phone that requires re-packing, to ensure it is as new, will attract a nominal charge of £7.50 that will be deducted from the refund. All returns will be quality assessed prior to refunding.

What do I need to know about hearing aids?

Hearing aids can be fully tested in ear; if the fit or sound is not satisfactory, they can be returned within 30 days of receipt for a full product refund. Used accessories such as batteries, domes or wax guards do not need to be returned. If physical damage beyond expected trial use is found on the hearing aid, our standard repair charge of £60 will be deducted from your refund as this affects our return policy with the supplier.

What do I need to know about returning hearing aid accessories?

You can request a RAN by emailing customerservices@hearingdirect.com or calling us on 01264 313110 or 0800 032 1301. The RAN should be quoted on an accompanying letter to explain the reason for return and ideally a copy of the original invoice.
