The Passion hearing aid was the first receiver-in-the-canal aid from Widex. The receiver, or loudspeaker, in conventional behind-the-ear hearing instruments occupies a lot of space. By placing it in the ear canal, at the end of a thin wire, hearing aid manufacturers are able to save space in the casing that sits behind the ear. Using this rationale, as well as the smallest hearing aid battery (size 10), Widex developed one of the smallest hearing instruments on the market at the time.
The Passion110 has been superseded by the Clear330 and more recently the Dream330; but when it was launched it was an immensely popular product right around the world.
10 channel Enhanced Dynamic Range Compression (EDRC) is used to drive the amplification strategy. This system has been used in Widex hearing aids since the very first days of its digital portfolio and continues to prove comfortable with wearers.
The Passion110 is suited for mild to moderate-severe hearing loss. The hearing aid fitter can either use instant fit receiver domes which don’t require ear impressions, or custom ear tips, usually used when the hearing loss is more severe.
