Dream is the very latest range of hearing aids to be launched by Danish manufacturer Widex. This family is available in 4 levels of technology, named the Dream440, Dream330, Dream220 and Dream110. All levels feature elements of the newest generation of the Widex TRUE-ISP platform; with the 440 having all possible configurations of features.
Sound processing features have been upgraded, as well as the wireless connectivity first launched in the Widex CLEAR products. One of the improvements in sound processing is new True-Input Technology feature. This effectively widens the input range (up to 113 dB SPL) of sounds coming into the hearing aid, which means that more speech sounds can be processed without any kind of distortion. Widex promote this increased range as the way to ensure a stable sound picture for an almost true-to-life listening experience.
Overall the amplification settings for the TruSound compression system focus on handling 3 different types of sounds: soft sounds, normal speech levels and loud sounds. Widex try to ensure that soft sounds should be audible, normal speech should be intelligible and loud sounds should be comfortable. In the Dream440, there are 15 processing channels for incoming sound, which have minimal processing times of 2-5 milliseconds, which is usually too fast for the human ear to notice any discernable digital delay. The directional system within the Dream440 also uses these 15 channels to pick up speech from any direction, while simultaneously reducing noise in these channels.
There are 6 different product types available, in 4 overall design categories: Passion and Fusion receiver-in-the-canals; behind-the-ear; and in-the-ear. Dream440 Passion RIC products are geared to cover mild to moderate-severe hearing loss with 2 power levels of receivers, while the Fusion RIC products have 3 receiver power levels to further increase the fitting range.
The Widex Dream440 models are optimised for wireless connection to the Widex range of DEX assistive listening devices. Depending on individual needs, there are solutions for mobile phone, television and telephone use.
