Unfortunately there is no standard amongst hearing aid manufacturers so it is often quite difficult to understand what is what. If you are considering buying a product you will be guided by a hearing aid professional but we think that it is best to go in armed with a little knowledge.
The Siemens Pure is a product format. It is a RIC which stands for receiver in the canal. This device has its main body behind your ear with the speaker or receiver in your ear canal connected by a thin wire. It is a proven product format and one which we have no trouble in recommending.
The Pure is available in a wide number of different technology levels and this is where the confusion comes in. The current range is the Pure 701, 501, 301 or 101 which may be stated or written as Siemens Pure RIC 701 etc., or Pure XCEL 701 etc or there is an alternative dome format which is classified at the Pure XCEL Carat 701 etc. There may be up to nine current products that use "Siemens Pure" within their product description and this does not include the product ranges that some of these have superseded.
To make matters worse not all manufacturers use RIC to label their product which ostensibly looks and perform in a similar manner to the Siemens Pure. Some use CRT, RITE or RIE – all are basically the same.
So having confused you, let’s take things back to basics. The Siemens Pure is a product that uses a receiver in the canal and a case that sits behind your ear. It is available in multiple different technology levels – i.e. the internal workings will vary widely, as will the performance, the benefit you will get and the price.
Good products from a good manufacturer. Take your time to work through the many options as they should be a Siemens Pure to assist you.
