ReSound Live has subsequently been superseded by the ReSound Alera ranges, but apart from the lack of wireless capacity, the Live offers a good collection of sound processing features for a so-called legacy product.
ReSound Live was one of the first ReSound ranges to include the ‘Surround Sound processor.’ This system, a combination of the compression and directional algorithms, was designed to give better overall awareness to the hearing aid wearer, particularly in noisy environments. The idea was to give the user more of a chance to take in everything in the environment, and make a more active decision as to what they wanted to listen to. Many hearing aids were providing very narrow fields of amplification via their directional systems and the hearing aids were effectively deciding what to focus on.
ReSound Live was also the first range to include the remote-microphone model as one of the standard options – a product design that was taken on board after the successful introduction of the ‘be by ReSound’ product. Apart from this unusual remote-microphone model, the usual line-up of BTEs, RIEs and ITCs are also available.
