- 6 channels
- Noise reduction in all models
- Analogue, wheel volume control on BTE
- Good solution for cost conscious consumer
ReSound Essence has many of the features used within other ReSound hearing aids, but de-featured to allow a more affordable option. For example, the same WARP processing system is used, but only in 6 channels, and the noise reduction system is based on those found in more advanced ReSound options.
So, even in a budget product, each individual frequency is analysed 500 times per second to classify sound as either speech or noise. If noise is found, it will be suppressed by 3 decibels, if speech is found, no suppression takes place. The end result aims for less listening effort being required by the wearer.
There is a fairly comprehensive line-up of models available. A BTE and power BTE, and then the usual options for in-the-ear custom models.
The behind-the-ear model may be quite appealing to those looking for a more traditional design, as it has a wheel type volume control, with printed numbers on it to show the user where they are in terms of amplification – potentially useful also when a carer is looking after a product for someone else.
