Phonak launched the Ambra range in late 2010 and at the time it was their top rated technology product. We suggest that you are not put off by the launch date, the Ambra was and still is great technology. With the passing of time there have been some advances but in general this is now a more affordable gem and will still provide incredible hearing benefit.
The range comes with a comprehensive list of product formats. Five different behind the ear models and a further five in the ear variants. The size, shape and functionality is something that you can select based upon assessment of your hearing in combination with your lifestyle choice but with such a broad selection there should definitely be an Ambra for you.
In addition to the ten core product formats there is the Phonak Ambra Nano. This is an extremely small product and therefore not for everyone. Phonak classify this as "virtually invisible" – an overused statement within the Hearing Aid industry – the Nano is certainly very small and it is available in a number of Phonak product ranges not just the Ambra.
Within the Ambra (and depending upon product format) there is an excellent technology suite with multiple directionality algorithms, sophisticated sound improvement functions to combat background noise, feedback, reverberation and other issues as well as wireless connection to a selection of accessories. Phonak has a strong legacy in wireless and the Ambra can connect to both Phonak accessories and standard wireless enabled household devices. Probably the smartest of all these is the DuoPhone which allows a linked phone to be heard in both ears – smart use of technology to even improve on nature itself.
In summary, we think that the Ambra has lost none of its technical edge and is now a great value product.
