Oticon is one of the three large Danish hearing aid manufacturers. Its Intiga range was launched in September 2011 and is available in three different technology levels – the Intiga 6, the Intiga 8 and the Intiga 10. The entry level Intiga 6 is only available in a single product format whereas the 8 and 10 levels have a more comprehensive selection.
The Intiga 6 is a receiver in the canal (RIC – although Oticon refers to them as RITE, standing for Receiver In The Ear) hearing aid. This format has the advantage of the receiver (speaker) being in the canal connected by wire to the main body which receives and processes the sound. As the receiver is outside of the main hearing aid case it can be smaller and should be able to deliver more sound with a lower incidence of feedback.
Across the board, hearing aid manufacturers have used the RIC to produce some of the more interesting looking hearing aids. Oticon is no exception and the Intiga 6 is a thoroughly modern and well-designed product, justifiably winning a number of design awards. The days of the bland pink banana hearing aid are long banished and the stylish Intiga comes in a choice of ten different colours.
Inside the Intiga, even at this entry level, there is an impressive array of technology that delivers sound specifically designed for mild to moderate hearing loss. Oticon has pitched this product squarely for the first time user and everything about it is geared to deliver the required amplification in a simple, easy to use fashion. Should you require more sophisticated sound processing or a selection of In The Ear products there is the Initga 8 and Intiga 10 range to consider.
In common with its more technical (and expensive) Intiga cousins the Intiga 6 uses the RISE 2 platform which has been further improved, primarily through a reduction in its size. The size of a chip is closely correlated to its power consumption and the Intiga 6 benefits from this with an improved battery life and using the space that is saved to incorporate wireless functionality.
Although, it is positioned as an entry level product the Intiga 6 has a considerable number of sound processing algorithms, many shared across the Intiga range, so correctly programmed to your specific hearing loss we have a great deal of confidence in the small stylish device. If this is your first hearing aid we believe that you have a very able product to improve your listening world.
