I bought it for my husband who couldn't learn how to use his smart phone. We are using his old Orange Sim. It will be a challenge to find an easy access case as this phone is a little chunkier than Samsung Galaxy or an iPhone and I don't want a sock or pouch. There are 3 hot keys to programme and a facility on the back like an alarm pendant, whereby you press SOS and preprogrammed numbers are dialled until one answers.

I also am in my eighties and couldn`t hear my old mobile so invested in this one. I did have a little help from my granddaughter (OK a lot) in setting up but once this was done I have had no problems at all. Very simple to operate and the adjustble volume is absolutely great. I would recommend to anyone with hearing difficulty.

My mother is in her eighties and has become very hard of hearing over the last ten years. She has hearing aids, but has struggled immensely with telephones and mobiles and cannot really hear much even with them on loud speaker and at their loudest volume. This phone has really changed her life, she can now have a proper telephone conversation with the extra loud volume ability of the unit. She also finds it simple to use and has grasped the functionality very quickly.

Review by Sue Moore (Posted on 26/02/2015)
I purchased this mobile for my elderly Father who has hearing problems. Other mobiles were useless due to the ring tone and volume control not being loud enough. On testing it out, my Father found he only needed to turn the volume up half way to get a perfect result. He can either use the loop system with his hearing aids or use the loudspeaker and talk into the phone on the microphone, thus giving him different options. My Father has large chunky fingers - this phone has large, easy to use buttons which is ideal. Its simple technology is easy to understand - my Father only wants to make/receive a call, & send a text. However, he has even mastered the camera and loves it! A fantastic buy for anyone with hearing difficulties we thoroughly recommend it and we found we could claim the VAT back too - what a bonus! The customer service from Hearing Direct.com was brilliant too with a smooth, fast delivery and pleasant telephone assistance - many thanks

Review by Critic_Al (Posted on 07/02/2015)
This phone was purchased for my wife. Over the years, I have handed down my mobile phones which had been upgraded/replaced only to be left more or less unused because, even at their maximum volume, they were declared unfit for her needs. The M8000 came to our attention via a newspaper article in which it was stated that Prince Philip had found the phone very beneficial!! Web searching led us to Hearing Direct where price, product range and general informative details found in their web page provided the confidence to continue with purchasing from them. The ordering and delivery process went as smoothly as necessary and the VAT content of the invoice (the completed ‘VAT Relief’ application form mailed the same day as web order placed) repaid very shortly after receipt of goods. Thank you Hearing Direct for that. The phone is as described in the literature whose functionality is just what was required – i.e. a mobile phone without being exceptionally 'smart'. Importantly, it is easy to use and set-up etc. and is now transpires fit for purpose for those with hearing difficulties. My wife uses RIC type hearing aids and (with the appropriate juxtaposition of the phone's speaker and aid's sensor) is once more confident in using a mobile phone. Whilst the M9000 smart phone may well be more in keeping with today’s trendy mobile technology, the M8000 does all that is needed for my wife’s purposes and it does it well even allowing for marginally 'clunky' input software in places. These comments were compiled from experiences gained within just a few days of the phone’s receipt but do not anticipate the future development of any particularly negative issues.
