  1. Very pleased with the phone...

I received my order the next day and so far have been very pleased with the phone which so far seems to meet my expectations so I would rate it at 5. My previous amplified phone was a Clarity which only went up to 32db and I definitely need a bit more volume.
I heard about HearingDirect through reading in The Times how one customer had received
very good service when the phone he ordered for his mother was not what was required
and HearingDirect immediately sent him another one which was more appropriate.

  2. Very professional

I purchased this product for my stepmother's birthday, so I didn't really know what to buy, to be honest, so I telephoned HearingDirect and they led me carefully through the various possibilities, explaining patiently the products to me and guiding me throughout.

The whole process was very professional. The service from my one-to-one conversation rated excellent, as did the product (which arrived within 2 days).

If only the rest of the world was as efficient as HearingDirect, there would be no recession!

Well done, to all of you.

I am profoundly deaf and for many years I have been unable to use a telephone. This is the first one I have found which has a minimum of distortion. This benefit far outweighs the minor faults.I recommend it with confidence.
All the staff at Hearing Direct are to be complimented on their efficiency and superb service.

Very pleased with the product, it is exactly as it says, in fact we do not need the speakerphone as the volume on the phone is high eneough for partial hearing people.
The service I received from your company was also excellent and I have recommended you to a lady in Crewe who I;m sure will buy from you.

    Thank you

  5. GREAT PHONE OVERALL BUT SOME MINOR IRRITATIONS

Posted by Geoff Goff on 27th Jan 2012

I bought the Amplicom PowerTel 700 Cordless Telephone for my mother as a Christmas present and overall it does exactly what it says. It is so loud that, with the audio "boost" on to give maximum volume, it is painful to listen to for those with normal hearing. Even my mother, who is very deaf, admitted it was loud for her. Another great plus is the total absence of any whistling at high volume, which is the bugbear of a lot of amplified phones these days. And it also fully justifies its claim to provide distortion-free listening as well, which is a genuine achievement. So full points for the overall objective to provide quality audio for people with severe hearing difficulties
However, this is marred slightly by a few irritating design faults regarding the placing of certain buttons, in particular the audio "boost" which is on the left side of the phone and exactly where you put your fingers to hold the device. Likewise, for the volume control on the right-hand side. Many deaf people are also elderly and frequently have other problems such as arthritis or simple joint stiffness which makes it difficult to place hands in the precise manner required for this phone to avoid constantly hitting these buttons, particularly at first. Over time, I hope my mother will literally get round this but it seems such an obvious error that I really wonder what the phone designers were thinking when they stuck these buttons where they did.
Finally, another irritation is the extremely clunky interface for programming the phone functions and filling in new contact numbers. It's not that difficult but it takes a long time and makes the whole process tedious. The number buttons, though, are big enough for elderly people to use but the on-screen appearance of the information you input is also very basic and could be much better presented in terms of font types and general readability. Even following the most basic of today's mobile phones in this respect would be a vast improvement.
Nevertheless, these are relatively minor niggles because here at last is a cordless phone which even very deaf people should be able to hear clearly - and that is the whole point.
