Frequently Asked Answers

1.    Can I get a hearing aid on the NHS?

The NHS now offers high quality digital hearing aids and at HearingDirect.com we have no problem with recommending this free service. The limitation is that there is often a considerable delay in being able to get an NHS hearing aid – waiting times vary however, all audiology departments are now meeting the 18 week Government target for issuing new hearing aids. Most people find it inconvenient to have to visit a hospital; HearingDirect.com offers a more convenient, good value alternative to the NHS

    3.    Why do hearing aids cost so much?

Hearing aids from High Street shops carry a large mark up from the manufacturer’s costs. When buying from the High Street you pay for their marketing campaigns to get you into their shops, their expensive shop rental and their sales staff costs.  None of which you pay for at HearingDirect.com; we pass these savings directly on to you.

    7.    Will a hearing aid make my hearing loss worse?

Hearing aids will not make an existing hearing loss worse. The longer you wait before using a hearing aid the longer your sound processing areas within the brain are left without stimulation. We recommend that you try one of our hearing aids on our risk free 30 day trial to see what they can do for you.

    24.    Will a HearingDirect.com hearing aid be right for my hearing loss?

All of the HearingDirect hearing aids are sent from our manufacturers with pre-programmed amplification geared at aiding mild to moderate hearing loss; particularly that which is attributable to the natural aging process, where people experience more problems hearing higher frequencies than the lower frequencies.

The software programme in HearingDirect products is therefore designed to offer less amplification for low frequency sounds and more amplification for high frequency sounds.

Pre-programmed hearing aids such as the ones featured on HearingDirect.com are becoming more and more popular. They offer the opportunity to many more people with mild to moderate hearing loss to see if amplification will bring an improved quality of life, at a much more affordable price.

Our 30 day money back guarantee also provides peace of mind that if you do not experience any improvement in hearing after trying a HearingDirect hearing aid; it can be sent back to us freepost within 30 days of receipt for a full product refund.
