Review by Andrea Phillips (Posted on 05/02/2015)
I bought the Doro twosome with answer phone for my parents, one of whom is now wearing a hearing aid and was struggling to hear people on the phone. After a fairly simple set up, both are now in use and the results are surprisingly good for the money. I wasn't expecting much at that price, but they are more than happy at the extra volume when they receive calls and the difference in the clarity when they call me is much better than their old phone, so for those two things alone it is worth it. Same niggles though in that you have to input memory numbers on each phone and the display is dismal, very basic numeric display and I think hard to read, but for the extra volume probably worth it.

Good phone, easy to set up but I bought this for my 87 year old Mother as it states that the volume is 5 times greater than a normal phone, which it may be, BUT it has to be increased for every call and not set at inception and so is useless as my Mother struggles to push the correct buttons and so is virtually no better than her previous phone. You should be able to preset the volume as these phones are geared for the elderly and not technically minded youngsters

I bought Doro 1015 pair of cordless phones with Answer machine & Doro 1010 pair of cordless phones without answer machine The reason for this was that as both my wife & myself are hard of hearing ,we needed 4 telephones nearby in various places around the home. It was easy to set up and pair the phones to one base (the answer phone base) The clarity & volume far exceeds any phone i have ever had & the person the other end says they can hear us very well. As for the desplay that is absolutly great & easy to read for my partially sighted wife. Also the ringer is loud.No chance of missing a call Intercom between handsets is a blessing. No more needing to shout from one room to another

I'm really pleased with this phone because it has very good amplification (for our purposes anyway - mild to moderate hearing loss). It also looks very sleek and has clear simple controls. Our main dissatisfaction with ordinary phones was the terrible quality of the answerphone playback. With this one we can turn up the volume and hear our messages again at last. I have two minor niggles: one cosmetic and one technical. The display has a line of tiny horizontal dashes through it. Although this can look quite smart, it also sometimes impairs legibility, particularly with the current time display. For this reason I opted not to use the time as my standby display, which I would normally have preferred to do. The technical niggle concerns the phonebook. Some phones allows you to input all your contacts (up to 50) and then use a COPY ALL function to copy them all to your second handset. But on the Doro you have to input them all manually twice if you want them in both handsets. A tad tedious. But neither problem detracts from the basic quality of the phone.
